Gov. Martin O’Malley and Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown launch their 2010 re-election campaign at lunchtime Tuesday in Baltimore, then follow up with a whirlwind three-day tour of Maryland.

Snowiest winter ever in Maryland. At 3 p.m. Wednesday, the center of the low-pressure system out over the Atlantic Ocean has moved northeast from Virginia, and is now reported offshore at about Cape May, N.J. It’s heading toward New York City and Long Island, and they can have it.

At mid-day, already 11.5 inches of snow accumulation is reported in the Baltimore area, 15 inches reported in Westminster, Carroll County. The northern part of Central Maryland north into Pennsylvania is predicted to receive 20 inches of snow or more today.

Amazing. Today, Feb. 10, 2010, the entire state of Maryland is under a blizzard warning! When was the last time that happened?

Sunny Sunday morning. Streets in West Ocean City have been plowed. High today: 29, winds 10-20 mph. Very cold tonight. At 10:15 a.m. Sunday, the thermostat on the back porch reads 20 degrees in the shade. A little warmer in the sun.

It’s official. Baltimore received 21.1 inches of snow in the winter snowstorm that roared up the Interstate-95 corridor Friday and Saturday. Almost all the snow in Maryland fell on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, which otherwise would have been one of the biggest shopping days of the year.

A windy snowstorm is shutting down the middle of Maryland on Saturday from the Chesapeake Bay through Montgomery and Frederick Counties. The heaviest snow is not in the Western Maryland mountains, as is usually the case, but in the Baltimore-Washington corridor.
